Dos And Donts To Cut The Cost Of Your Holiday

The current economic climate is turning us into a cost-conscious society. We are all looking to trim the cost of everything: the supermarket bills, utilities bills and, of course, this years summer holiday.

There are several ways to save money when booking your holiday. If you are planning to fly with a budget airline this year, one way to cut costs is to familiarise yourself with your airlines added extras, or ancillary charges. Many budget airlines focus on low-cost tickets to attract customers and then make a large proportion of their money by offering optional, added extras, such as checked-in baggage, airport check-in and onboard food and drink. If you are aware of where they make their money, a bit of forward planning should help you to avoid most of these charges.

Heres a list of dos and donts that will help:

Dont travel with checked in luggage
If your airline is charging you to take checked-in baggage, consider travelling with hand luggage only. A significant amount of money can be saved by a family of four if you can survive with hand luggage only.

If you do need to carry hold luggage, pay for it online before checking in as the fees charged online are generally less than at the airport.

Dont exceed your permitted weight allowance
If you do need to travel with more than just hand luggage, make sure you know your weight entitlement and stick to it. Excess luggage charges are expensive and can add loads to the cost of your holiday. Make sure you have left a sufficient amount of weight allowance to bring back extras that you buy on holiday.

Dont buy your currency at the airport
Purchasing currency at the airport has to be the most expensive way of buying foreign currency. If you dont like the rates at the airport what are you going to do, youve nowhere else to go. Prior to travelling, shop around online or on the high street for currency deals, but dont assume that commission-free is the cheapest option. Compare how much you will get for your money, or check how much it will cost to buy the amount of foreign currency you require. This will give you a genuine comparison on which to make your decision. Often, travel agents offer better deals online than in their high street shops.

Dont arrive at the airport too early
Obviously, you need to allow sufficient time to get through airport security, but by arriving too early you risk killing time in the airport shops and may spend money on items you dont really want or need.

Do check-in online
Many budget airlines charge for airport check-in, so check-in online before you leave home and print your own tickets. Try to check-in online as soon as it is possible to do so. If you havent pre-booked your seats, you may stand more of a chance of being allocated seats together the earlier you check in.

Do book your airport parking in advance
Up to a whopping 60 percent can be saved by booking your airport parking online, in advance. Never just turn up at the gate. During busy holiday periods, you may find the price of airport parking increases the nearer you get to your travel date, so book your parking as soon as possible.

Do eat before you fly
If youre flying with a budget airline, consider eating prior to flying, or purchase food and drink after security to take on the plane. But make sure it will fit in your hand baggage, or you may find yourself charged for extra baggage. The cost of feeding a family of four on a budget airline can significantly increase your travel costs. Dont forget about this on your return journey too.

Do purchase travel insurance
While the temptation can be to trim your holiday costs as much as possible, travel insurance is one expense you simply cant afford to do with out. Travel insurance can cover airline failure, lost or stolen valuables and emergency medical treatment.

Travelling without travel insurance is a false economy, is something goes wrong on holiday it could cost you significantly more money than an insurance policy. Its not worth the financial risk, so make sure youre covered.

Traveling with Bluetooth Devices

Traveling is always easier if you take as little with you as humanly possible. It’s always the intention while traveling to carry only to what is most necessary. This is not always an obtainable goal, especially when you are venturing into parts unknown. In addition to the usual essentials, a sizable map and navigational equipment become necessary.

With the unveiling of GPS technology, traveling with maps and huge navigational devices becomes unneeded; a traveler need only carry a GPS receiver. A GPS receiver determines one’s exact position on earth by deciphering the information it receives from GPS satellites. With the assistance of other electronic devices, the GPS receiver will precisely determine your correct location on a map.

For even more even more functions and ease of use, GPS receivers can be used with other mobile devices. The PDA is one of the most frequently used mobile products for this purpose. PDAs make the perfect partner to the GPS receiver because of their unique features, such as a colored screen to display maps and hard drive space for map storage. And PDAs are light compared to other mobile devices such as notebook computers.

There is a problem with using a PDA with a GPS device, however. They do not always integrate well. GPS receivers are normally connected to PDAs using a CompactFlash (CF) card or USB wires. Because some GPS receivers are quite large, attaching it to your PDA using CF can make it too large. Using the USB wires, however, can make your GPS receiver difficult to use and limit its usefulness.

So what could be the solution to this problem? A Bluetooth GPS reciver.

The Bluetooth Solution

Bluetooth wireless technology is the open standard for wireless communication. As long as the two electronic devices are with 10 meters of each other, Bluetooth technology will allow them to send and receive signals and transfer data. No wires are necessary.

Bluetooth GPS Recevier

The Bluetooth GPS receiver is simply a receiver that uses the Bluetooth technology and electronics to transmit GPS data to a mobile device. However, they must share the same technology. For example, if a Bluetooth GPS receiver will be used with a PDA, the PDA must have built-in Bluetooth technology.

The Bluetooth GPS receivers used with the Bluetooth capable PDAs offer many advantages over an ordinary GPS unit, which is connected to the PDA using CompactFlash or USB wires. These advantages include the ability to use wireless connections between the devices. Without wires to limit positioning between the Bluetooth GPS receiver and the PDA, you can place the two devices at their most advantageous locations. For example, if you are using your Bluetooth GPS receiver in your car, you can place the device where it has a clear view of the sky. Then you can place your PDA on your dashboard and have optimum screen visibility. Because the wires are not used to connect the two devices, their positioning will not hamper your driving. Also, because you won’t need to use Bluetooth’s CompactFlash slot, you can use it for other things, such as storing maps or software to optimize the GPS navigation.

Aside from these two advantages, the Bluetooth GPS receiver units have other features, although most of them are brand or unit specific. Generally, Bluetooth GPS receiver units now have pre-stored US maps, point-of-interest (POI databases and route recalculation functions.

Camotes Island Resort

You can take a ferry both or a fast craft from Pier 1 in Cebu City to port poro Camotes but it is much further and will still take four hours to reach to Mangodlong and Santiago Camotes. My friend and I stayed at The Mangodlong Rock resort. We were told it was one of the nicest beach resorts on Camotes Island. The service was good and it is reasonably priced.

We began our tour at Lake Danao which was one the biggest lakes that I ever seen. It was nice but we decided not to change into our swim suits and take a swim. After Lake Danao we proceeded to the place they called Sunog cave. It was huge and we were told the water was very deep. It was very dark and kind of eerie inside that cave so we again decided against going for a swim. Perhaps we will the next time we visit that cave.

The third part of your tour is in Boho Buro. We climbed to the top of the cliff looking down into the deep blue water of the beach below. The beach looked like a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a lazy day playing in the waves. Even though we were getting tired, there was still time to stop by the other cave near by called Bukilat cave. I really dont know why they use that kind of funny name for a cave. No one gave me a reason for the name when I asked about it. The Bukilat cave is smaller than the Sunog cave and has plenty of light because of several holes in the ceiling that gives direct light from the sun.

Three Travelling Bags of Life We Need to Carry in Life Journey

There was a man who wanted to cross the desert. This man took a travelling bag with him, which was filled with food and water. At the beginning, he had been walking towards the north of the desert, but a sudden dust storm happened at night. The next day, when he got out of the sand dunes, looking greenish yellow sky, he didn’t know where to go.

There was also a man who wanted to cross the desert. This man took a travelling bag with him, in which there was a compass. He thought he would cross the desert in a day, but the dust storm blocked his trip. When the sandstorm stopped, it was the next day morning. This man went on walking with his feet deeply or lowly immersed in the sand. However, he didn’t reach the center of the desert until the next evening. Later, being tired and hungry, he eventually passed out on the third day.

Another person also decided to cross the desert. He took two bags: one with a compass, so he had a very good sense of direction; the other was filled with food and water, so he wouldn’t worry about hunger and thirst. At first, when he met the person who lost the direction in the desert, he turned a blind eye; then he encountered the dying person who was lying on the sand dunes because of no food and water, he also took an indifferent glance and left; later, when he surpassed several people who needed help, he ignored them. The next day, this man met a group of bandits, who robbed not only camels but also two bags of him. Without a compass, this person walked blindly like the first; three days later, he was hungry to die like the second person.

The three men: the first lost his direction because of lacking a compass; the second lost his life because of lacking adequate food and water; although third person had both a compass and sufficient food and water, he lacked love. So, his outcome was the most tragic.

Person’s life is in fact a trip. Starting from the beginning of life, we should bring three bags: one with a compass, one with food and water and the other with love.
